Meeting I:
From Molecule to Consciousness
History, biology & endogenous DMT
The history of the substance: from archaeological traces, to Amazonian traditions, to contemporary clinical research.
- You will understand how scientific and cultural approaches to DMT have evolved, allowing you to consciously place your practice in a wider context.
What DMT is: endogenous vs. exogenous forms; ayahuasca and its contemporary variants.

Occurrences of DMT in plants and animals, evolutionarily conserved biosynthetic pathways.
- You will learn the biochemical basics to distinguish myths from documented data.

Mechanisms, Receptors & Clinical Translation
Scientific bases for working with DMT & ayahuasca
Routes of administration: inhalation, i.v., infusion, pharmahuasca - differences in intensity and course.
- You will learn how pharmacokinetics translate into the dynamics of a treatment session.
Composition of ayahuasca: role of β-carbolines, entourage effect, variety of formulations.
- You will understand why the same decoctions can lead to such different experiences.
Pharmacokinetics: metabolism, biomarkers, CYP2D6 and MAO-A polymorphisms.
- You will learn to predict individual patient responses and minimise risk.

About the Expert
Jakub Schimmelpfennig
Neuropsychologist and researcher, PhD student at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at SWPS University in Warsaw. Founder and head of the Psychedelics & Consciousness Research Group (PCRG) and member of the HoloMind Program Board.
He has co-authored scientific publications in leading journals. His research focuses on altered states of consciousness and the science of psychedelics, with a particular focus on endogenous DMT and the use of modern technology and breathing techniques to investigate or model psychedelic states. He is interested in how psychedelics interact with brain structures and mechanisms shaped during evolution.
He is also currently involved in scientific projects on topics including: the effects of psychedelics on sleep quality, the use of nanoparticles in the reduction of MDMA toxicity and the role of endogenous DMT in biological development (ontogeny).
About the Experts
Piotr Matejuk
Practitioner of psychedelic-assisted therapy, founder of the SACRUM Psychedelic Therapy Center, graduate of the Integrative Psychiatry Institute, collaborates with the Center for Medicinal Mindfulness & Psychedelic Sitters School (Boulder, CO), completed doctoral studies at the Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, co-founder of the Professional School of Hypnotherapy in Warsaw. Author of publications, popular science articles (including “Psychology in Practice, Characters”) on expanded states of consciousness and the book “Self-hypnosis - close encounters with oneself.”
He has conducted numerous workshops and training courses on therapeutic work in expanded states of consciousness, as well as international retreats using sacred plants. He is currently building a psychedelic community in the Amazon jungle in Peru.
Special Guest:
Tomasz Kwieciński
ACT therapist in training and holotropic breathwork facilitator, founder of Holotropic Poland and graduate of Grof Transpersonal Training. He has been working with expanded states of consciousness for years, conducting holotropic workshops in many countries and supporting the development of new facilitators as part of the international GTT Staff team.
During the DMT & Ayahuasca Masterclass, he will talk about integrating difficult psychedelic experiences, especially after DMT and 5-MeO-DMT, and about his experiences with Colombian ayahuasca ceremonies – their strengths, shadows, and lessons we can learn from them.
